Sillly Pickup Ring Question

Ok, i have a strange question here.

I just finished installing a dimarzio d sonic into my ibanez RG570

i had my father do this because hes good with a soldering iron and i'm not, anyway i had to go out for a moment so i wasnt around when he put the pickup in the pickup ring and screwed it to the face of the guitar.

Originally the pickup rings were set up like so on the guitar:

on that angle with the neck facing the left the rings appear like this:

/ | / the middle line being the single coil.

Dad installed it like this:

/ | \

My question is, the part of the pickup closest to the bridge will be lower than the part closest to the neck because of the way the pickup ring is now installed, does this make a big difference or much at all difference to the sound or is this negligable and the only reason why people install the rings / / is because of it looks more orderly.

Sorry for beating around the bush and i hope what i said made sense.

I know i can easily just turn the ring around but i was curious as to whether it made a difference.

Kind Regards,

Daniel

I don't think you will notice a huge difference tonally, maybe volume drop if your switch is wired to split the neck. I always thought neck rings were supposed to be flat since you don't really need much elevation of the pickup down there.
