Silly little EQ mistake.

I bet I've read about this a hundred times. It didn't "click". As I sit and look around the room, I see my dual-humbucker guitars. My Strat has SSL-6's and an SSL-3. All three are hotter than many humbuckers. The only exception is my Squier Tele with the Antiquity II in the bridge. It has a Stag Mag in the neck, but that little Antiquity is all alone. It has a unique airy, open character, but its thin. Its my least favorite pup. I'm sitting here playing with it, trying to figure out why I don't like it better, when I notice something . . . my amp's tone controls sit as such . . .

Bass at about 10 o'clock, mids at about 11, and treble at around 3 o'clock. Its EQ'ed for everything else. So I mess with the controls and end up at:

Bass and midrange at about 3 o'clock and treble at 1 o'clock. My Ant II has come alive. Now its doing what it's supposed to do.

Like I said . . . silly mistake. The good news . . . I get to re-discover this cool old pup.

Must be a "Friday night" thang. ;)

Re: Silly little EQ mistake.

I do that too. I'll get stuck on one EQ setting until something jiggles my brain. The trouble with the Quad is that once you start tweaking, you'll be there for 20 minutes getting it right.

Sssshhhhhhh.... don't tell anybody. :D

All that fiddling has finally paid off- I'm familiar enough with it's quirks I can get a sweet sound with just a couple of knob twists.
