Silly question about trannys

Ok, not wanting to be a dufus or anything but I have a really dumb question for you tech heads.

If I have an amp with a US transformer in it, is it possible to get a UK tranny put in it? Is there anything else inside the amp which would need altering?

your easiest way around this is to get a step down transformer to plug into the wall in the uk, then plug the amp into that. you can pick them up on ebay for next to nothing.

BIG +1. No sense in changing a transformer just to make it compatible with UK voltage. Step down transformers will work, no problem!

Basically, you are correct. As long as you get the secondary side voltage the same, you should be good to go. All audio equipment that has the switch on the back for European/US voltage, simply selects different primary side tranny taps. Nothing else changes . . . except for one thing.

You'll probably want to lower the main fuse value. (Going from US to Europe.)
Increase the fuse value, going from Europe to US.

Yep done this in the past, I'm actually after a tonal change as well this time!
