Silver Jubilee DI - amp slave question

hydro

Prayin' to Cheeses
Thinking about running my Silver Jubilee 2550 as a preamp into my dual recto's power section, just for giggles.

Does anyone know if you still have to have the jubilee's speaker outs plugged into a load, or does the DI bypass the power section when plugged in?

I mean I guess I can try it but I don't wanna smoke the amp by doing something stupid.

Oh and yes, I read the manual.... :-p

Re: Silver Jubilee DI - amp slave question

Would the same be true if you ran the send from the FX loop instead? Would that bypass the jubilee's power section and mean you didn't have to have a speaker load?

Re: Silver Jubilee DI - amp slave question

^well, never mind - I just read that the Jubilee fx loop send is in front of the tone stack, so that woudn't work.

Re: Silver Jubilee DI - amp slave question

This. But you could check to see if the DI works with standby on. I've never tried it with mine.
I don't think it does. Pretty sure the preamp tubes on Jubes only see H.T. when the power amp does, hence a load is needed.

Re: Silver Jubilee DI - amp slave question

Run an out from the effects loop into the input of the Mesa. Then you get both speaker cabs working and an interesting sonic dynamic between the both of them.

Re: Silver Jubilee DI - amp slave question

I think what I may try is running the Jubilee speaker out at 4 ohms into one stereo input in the 4x12 and then run the DI to the Recto's power section, and its 4 ohm speaker out into the other stereo input. Alternately I could use two cabs, but if I ever wanted to gig with this setup I'd have to have a single cab.
