Simple and clean. (Music Man content.)

I've only played Music Man basses. The ones I tried were great. There was a 5 string stealth Bongo that really should have come home with me.

I am a big EB/MM fan, but this one loses me. I don't like the St Vincent either, but that Stingray is pretty hot. I am also interested in the new Sterling Luke.

The bassist who filled in for our regulaar bass player at our last gig was playing a MM Stingray.

Otherwise I've only ever played Sterling's. The best was a Petrucci Majesty...that thing played pretty well. Still Fugly though.

My friend who owns a studio has a ($$$$) EBMM Petrucci of some kind. Also fugly, but I have'nt played it.

If I were ever to pick up a Petrucci sig this is the one I'd get personally :bigthumb:

ArtieToo sort of unrelated question: when working on a guitar electronics what do you prefer? Pickguard or no pickguard?

It depends on the job. If I'm installing new pups, it's hard to beat a Strat. If I'm just replacing worn pots, it's hard to beat a rear control cover. If it's a total rewire/replacement, then it doesn't really matter.

The body shape is fine. It's weird that there's a control plate with no controls on it, but I'd add controls to it. And a neck pickup. I like that it comes default with .11s . . .

I always found the Majestys to be really ugly, too. My favorite guitar for the last 20 years has been my Silhouette Special that I customized with a scalloped neck and 2 humbuckers.

Fold, pass, eschew, repudiate. In a sequence of at least two.
Not my thing, mostly because it doesn't have a neck pickup.

You know what...the thing that makes EB's fugly are the pickguard shapes that are plain weird & often don't flow w/ and match the body....those & the dinky headstocks :lmao:

But really, take away the funky pickguard & your left w/ something like this...MUCH better :bigthumb:

th

Every Sterling I have played has felt solid & been really well put together/sounded good ...even my entry level Axis. I bet the EBMM's are even better (at those prices they better be :laugh2:)

It's just getting past how they look that can be a problem...

I'd love an Albert Lee. He's someone that should get more recognition than he does. Nice guy, too.
