since you know pretty much everything (Funkfingers) I need your help!

Re: since you know pretty much everything (Funkfingers) I need your help!

I know nartheeng, Mister Fawlty. I from Barcelona.

Firstly, why is this in The Bassment? Secondly, I have heard the amp in question. (It would be difficult to ignore one!) How loudly are you running yours?

No reply, huh?

Sorry had a busy day. I put it in the basement because I know you would be waiting to pounce on whatever came along your path. Lol. I cranked it the other day and it just had no balls like it used to... I always let the amp warm up for a minute or two before I play and I crank it after I play for a few minutes..

Sorry. had a busy day.

And I didn't, already, Reuben? :dunno:

Actually, I am usually lurking in Off Topic, waiting to exchange insults with the Australian contingent.

This needs quantifying. If the amplifier is not as loud as before, by how much is it less loud? If the tone has changed, from what to what? If you view the valves, what colour (if any) are they glowing inside their glass envelopes?

Additionally, you need to include some description of how you set the amp's gain and tone controls plus what guitar(s) you play through it.

Have you tried more than one guitar through the amp since it developed the problem? This would eliminate the possibility that the problem is actually the guitar(s) rather than the amplifier. e.g. A flat battery in a guitar with active pickups or booster circuitry would send a weak signal to the amp. Result, low drive and lousy tone.

Okay. I have tried the guitar through multiple amps, it sounds fine in my classic 50/410 with brand new tubes. I play a schecter outfitted with the jazz/jb. I also use a ts9 and decimator 2 both if which had fresh batteries/or are plugged into wall warts. I play with the gain set up about 6.5/10, I've used the same setup for over a year, but I haven't played out if the amp much, for my love of bass has grown into a fine flower. If I could describe the tone it is missing the bottom end it doesn't hit you in the gut like it used to and it sounds weak like all it has to give are the sounds of high gain but with no low end and punch. Like the speakers aren't hitting hard its just more of the high frequencies. Hope that helps. Will have to check the color of the tubes when I get home. Thanks FF!

Do you have any old recordings of the exact same guitar/pedals/amp rig against which to objectively compare?

Honestly I don't need recordings it is very obviously different. And I have the ears of a hawk. Could what I am describing be a side affect of weak power tubes needing to be replaced?

Re: since you know pretty much everything (Funkfingers) I need your help!

Could be. Could also be a bunch of other things.

See post #2.

What was the air pressure when it sounded pissy ?[ no balls ]

Re: since you know pretty much everything (Funkfingers) I need your help!

In this thread, piss appears to be the operative word.

Lol. I'm gonna try another go at it tonight and see what I can figure out. My gut (besides being fat) tells me its probably the power tubes. I'll post a picture of the tubes to see if you guys can see anything, ehermm, PISSY!
