Single bridge humbucker guitars?

Re: Single bridge humbucker guitars?

While that is a cool guitar, I'm a bit finicky about certain headstock designs. Mainly, I hate when the strings are skewed at too steep of an angle from the nut. I just like when the strings have as straight of a pull as possible. The exception is that I do like a headstock that's tilted back, to get a nice break angle on the nut.

It's one of the reasons I hate Dean guitars, even though I like their designs otherwise. I think this is one of the worst headstocks I've ever seen:

Hope I don't start any wars with that. :guilty:

That makes Gibson’s break angle look like perfection.

It's the reason, (or one of them), that my next acoustic will be a Seagull.

Re: Single bridge humbucker guitars?

This is my very favorite configuration. A few are:

Charvel Model Series
Gibson/Epi ES-333
Ibanez ORM1, and they made an RG or two and a GIO
Godin Redline
Various Melody Makers
The Heritage that is a Melody Maker
Carvin DC125
DeArmond M55
Dean V that's a white signature model
Ran that's a Vader singer sig model
ESP Neil Westfall sig
Various Reverends, a few current and the short-run Slingshot Jr
Koll Troubadour
BC Rich SOB and Body Art series (and others, Bronze series I think)
Jackson Scott Ian Soloist and some of the Washburn Grover Jackson interim models
Schecter Seether singer signature
ESP Alexi

I have a cheap eBay custom, Charvel Model 1a, and a TBB Chandler NOS body, all single hum.

Re: Single bridge humbucker guitars?

Do converts count? I have a Squier '51 I've converted to single humbucker.

Everything counts, if you love it. And I love those Squier 51's. I can't believe I don't have one in my arsenal.

Re: Single bridge humbucker guitars?

I bought this RS315 as a box of bits and it was a little rough to say the least. All the bits were there except for the trem bar and after a fret dress and polish it plays great.

A friend has one of those. Plays pretty good but that “Pro Rocker” or whatever trem is a pita.

Yeah I just locked against the body and it’s cool. I did have an early 80s Ibanez artist with one back in the day, took it back after a few days!

Re: Single bridge humbucker guitars?

Before I got my Taylor I played a couple of really nice Seagulls. Good, good guitars.

My luthier friend got one for free because of a cracked body. It still sounds good.

That's because the Edward (& his countless 80's hair metal clones) time is over.

There's about five pages proving my observation wrong. ;)

I bet the girl off a peavey triple-xxx cab would match perfectly over the old sticker spot. You could screw her right on. p.i.
You might want her brown instead of silver though, we all have our personal preferences. She would already have two holes ready for screwing!

edit: Woops, my bad, the girls on the cab sit opposite, although you could have them facing each other all sexy like.

Finally got to take a pic. 2016 Squier '51 w/ 1999 JB. I'm thinking of putting a Esquire-esque pickguard on it. I'm thinking red tortoise.

think Squiers...especially Classic Vibe...are like the best value around...Yamaha too but the Squiers have the look advantage...

The 51's, Duo-Sonics, and Mustangs all have a cool vibe that sets them apart.

Much better without a guard...that guitar is cool as hell just like it is.

I wonder if it would look goofy to fill those pickguard holes with abalone dots?
