Single coil and mini humbucker under same pickup cover?

I was thinking of putting an ssl-1 and a lil 59 side by side in the same route and then having a push pull to switch between then (like a pseudo coil split), but them I got to thinking, could I take the cover off the single coil and with a little bit of work on the baseplates to get them to fit under a nickel cover? If not could I get it done in the custom shop? This isn't to urgent a question as I have other builds that I'm working on, but it still seems pretty neat.

That's a good idea. You can definitely stick them into a humbucker slot and then wire it however you want.

The magnetic field of the single coil is altered

That's what I was about to answer but if MJ has proven that it works, I'll just shut my mouth. :-))

Before to come back to silence, just a precision: some pickups squeal when bonded together like that. Something to dampen the vibrations of the whole might be a good idea IMHO.

Good luck ro the OP.

Re: Single coil and mini humbucker under same pickup cover?

Would anyone happen to know if their was a specific name for the pickups she made? I've never heard of these before.
Edit: About the while microphonic thing, I'm probably going to tape off the windings on the single coil and if necessary, pot the whole thing.

Sort of a P-Rails with a mini hum instead of a P90...cool idea! Wire some Triple Shot rings, and you got yourself one awesome set of pickups. MJ can hook you up.
