Single Coil/Humbucker 250/300/500k????

Hey all!

No doubt another pain in the rear, no 100% agreed answer but here goes!

Long story short, I like modding crap guitars. Getting one of the new Epi Les Paul SL's, planning on doing either a late 50s style or a slightly hot single coil in neck and a hot rails humbucker in the bridge.

Best Relatable wiring diagram, for a SC/HB Tele setup, recommends a 250k VOL/TONE pot and 0.047 capacitor....

I used 500k and 0'047 in my T90/HB Tele and its a demon so what does everyone reckon?

I can follow diagrams and confident in doing it but I am simpleton and no a tech so help us

All suggestions

If you are thinking hot single neck and bridge HB a 500k will clean up the muddiness from the neck and make the HB freekin scream. Be sure the HB is hot too.

I like 500K on my neck PU's for the sharp high end, and 250K on my bridge PU's (including HB's) to take off excess high end. If need be, I've been known to drill a hole & added an extra pot.

@blueman335, interesting, will check space available and probably do this... what capacitor would you recommend?

A conservative suggestion that will still be bright and work for both pickups is 2 300k pots and a 22nf cap. Dark would be 2 250k pots and a 33 or 47nf cap. Bright is 2 500k. I've tried doing a separate volume pot for each pickup but I think you can get 1 volume to work fine for both.

I would just do 2 500k pots for that set up. For hotter single coils that are more mid-focused, it will add some clarity to them.
