Single coil humbucker users

Re: Single coil humbucker users

It's a '63 MM (incoming NGD).

'Grats in Advance!

I had the pleasure of having a '60 model that was completely gutted & hot-rodded(2 HB & Floyd),it was one of the most awesome guitars I've ever played. Not saying go "there" with it,but that's a nice plank. :D

Mebbe get a Hot Custom Shop thingie to drop right in w/o mangling it?

Or a P-90!
:p

Looking forward to the results & 'Grats again!

Single or Double cut?

I wish they would make a Cool Rails Tele bridge. That would be, you know . . . cool.

(I wonder if that could be a shop floor custom?)

I don't think so. But ask the Custom Shop...they would know for certain. Shop Floor Customs generally have options like logo, color, leg size, things like that. This is the official list.

Hey thanks!

It's a double cut with a round lower bout. I don't like how they start looking after '65. I have a restored p90 that I'm not using at the moment. I might give it a whirl at some point, but I'm going to rack up a lot of expenses with pickguards alone haha. I believe they fit the route without any modification.

As for the single coil buckers, I'm going to get a hot rail and see how it works out. I might call the cs shop and see what MJ can do as well. I have a few parts I can let go to fund the pickguards/pickups. All I have to do is unsolder the ground wire and the original harness will be "unmolested".

Re: Single coil humbucker users

Just an update, I ended up jumping the gun and ordered a custom shop rail blindly. I ordered it to be voiced with a S-Deco voicing/aged a5. From the moment I hit submit, I received the pickup about 3 weeks later.

Wound at 11.6K, it's near the full size S Deco (12k) I once owned. In terms of sound, it's generally in the ballpark of what a S Deco sounds like, but it definitely imparts its own flavor with the rail design. I dig it.

Using the Bogner La Grange in the high gain setting, I dialed in an Iron Maiden tone almost instantly lol.

Re: Single coil humbucker users

Thanks! I try to make my guitars fun and playable. You won't find a closet queen in my stable.

I don't have any legit recording capabilities at the moment, but I plan on gathering some stuff to make it happen (by the end of the year). Sorry.

I'd like to thank everyone for all the info/input. Rail pickups are a great option. The parallel tones are cool, but I much prefer it split. More output, takes od/distortion better, and it give enough of a single coil vibe to pass through.
