single coil in a strat for PAF sound?

No experience at all with duncan single coils.

Is there a single coil I can drop in my strat in the bridge position that will sound like a PAF? Don't really care if it hums or not, but I imagine it will be some sort of humbucker.

Can I repurpose a tone pot to split the coil?

thx

What you can have is a hum-cancelling, dual coil pickup that will retrofit directly into a single coil-sized aperture.

The one that is intended to sound most like a PAF is the Li'l '59. http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/stratocaster/cutting-edge/little_59_for_s/ Listen to the sound clips. If the pickup does not seem to have enough power, it has several hotter brethren.

Yes, you can coil split this pickup.

Or if you want to go with Dimarzio, their Pro Track does a very convincing PAF sound.
