Single coil sized humbucker for a Strat.

Hi all.

Very tempted to pickup up a Strat that's in my local store.

I played it and I like the cleans but not so much how it sounds with distortion.

In another thread I posted asking recommendations for a bridge pickup for my Blacktop Jaguar and the Custom Custom was what most people recommemded which I do like the sound of.

So what single coil sized humbucker is going to sound closest to the Custom Custom?

Good cleans and thick with a nice mid range when using distortion.

Thanks!

If it's routed correctly, I would just get drop a full sized Custom Custom in there.

The Hot Rails certainly has the mids of the Custom Custom, but it is hotter and more compressed sounding. That might work, since it is in a Strat. All of the other single coil-sized humbuckers tend to have a more open sound. I'd wire in a Hot Rails, with maybe a push/pull to switch it to parallel if you need something cleaner sounding.

have you played it through your own rig yet? if not, maybe give it some time to get an idea how it sounds with your amp in your playing environment. things can definitely sound different while still in the store.
