Single coil sized HUMS: Pole Pieces Adjustments

Has anyone tried this on either the lil 59 or the JB jr??? Wondering if its a good idea or the effects also what not to do so I wont mess my PU up?????

You won't mess it up. Strat by adjusting the E string poles even with the top of the bobbin and then raise the others to match the arch of your fingerboard.

You might want the B string pole to a little further away...or maybe not.

Let your own ears be the judge of what sounds good to you...because what sounds good to you is all that matters.

LEW, great advice man u always help man:beerchug: , I was wondering do what should I do about it being to boomy in the neck (the bridge sounds great!) when playing chords, will this do the trick or should look at my amp setting and/or lower the PU/ or action?

speaking of action, if I want to adjust and have a low action do I raise where there is no buzzing any where on the fret board, or just no buzz when hit open?

I set my action so when I plug the guitar in I hear no buzzes and when I bend notes, no notes fret out or choke. Most electric guitars buzz a little when plucked hard, but as long as it doesn't come through the amp it's usually OK.

Raising the poles higher and moving the bobbin further away helps clear up the mud.

But if you want mud free tone and also hum free operation from a single coil size pickup, the one I recommend is the new Duncan Classic Stack Plus.

Yea I have the stack in the middle and man they are so amazing just amazing, they even have less hum than the lil hums I have them in the neck and bridge. Yes. That'll help. May not solve the issue completely though and moving the pickup further away can give the pickup an anemic tone if you over do it.

UR welcome.

What I've found is that setting the polepieces level (more or less) with the top of the bobbin and then moving the whole pickup up to the strings gives a thick tone....and that raising the polepieces above the bobbin so that the poles are close to the strings but the rest of the body of the pickup is further away from the strings gives a brighter tone that is not as thick.
