Single coils to go with a Jazz Bridge?

Now that Ive finally got my main guitars equipped with pickups i like, im thinking of giving some attention to my old Squier Strat that was given to me about 10 years ago.

Im going to get an HSS pickguard but I dont know much about single coils so i could use some advice, Ive got a Jazz Bridge that isnt being used at the moment so i thought that would be perfect for the job. My other guitars are set up for metal & hard rock so Id like to get more of a classic rock/blues sound from this one.

Im interested in the Cool Rails for the neck possibly, but what for the middle spot? Maybe an SSL-5 for a true single coil sound? That sounds like a pretty versatile combo to me but are there any others i should consider instead?

Is it even worth it to put money into an old Squier like this?

Classic rock / blues sound in my opinion is Alnico II Pro single coil pickups. I have some and it rocks. Very good cleans, very nice bluesy / vintage sounding overdrive tones.

I mean, this is all a guess, but pickups with alnico V magnets might sound like the best match to the Jazz, like maybe some Vintage single coils, but I would still prefer alnico II magnets for bluesy / classic rock sound. I can't speak for the jazz bridge (I've owned a Jazz neck...) or the Vintage single coils, but I can for the Alnico II Pro single coils.
