single for 59-JB combo

Hoping to get a little advice from the forum - I'm putting together a Warmoth strat - I currently have a 'lil 59 in the neck and a JB in the bridge. What Seymour Duncan single coil in the middle position would best match the output and blend with the tonal characteristics of the other two pickups? I'm hoping this will be a real versatile axe, so I'd like to get a reasonably accurate single coil sound out of that middle position, if possible. Any recommendations?

Hey sounds cool. I have a warmoth strat w/'59/fender standard sc/custom 5 pups and it really sounds great. For the best tone a would go with some kind of fender single coil but if you really want a duncan get the ssl-1 vintage staggered.

I really love warmoth stuff. They really have some beautiful bodies and colors. What color is yours?

I got a "Charger Green" strat body in swamp ash, with the contoured heel, along with a 24 3/4" conversion neck, blank fender headstock, original Floyd Rose. I'm kind of trying to do my own version of a "Green Meanie." I was seriously considering the SVR-1, so thanks for your suggestion. I guess I don't have to have all Duncans, but it just seemed natural to at least consider one of their singles since I've already got the 'lil 59 and JB. You think a Fender single would match well with the Duncans?

Re: single for 59-JB combo

On mine the fender single coil sounds really good with the duncans. It might depend on the wiring config though. I have a really complicated wiring set-up...the 2 buckers are on the 5-way switch and the middle pup can be engaged at any time using a push-pull...theres like 25 different combinations and almost takes a degree to use it:laugh2: I assume that it should still sound good with most wiring configurations though. If you like the svr-1 though, go for it. I haven't heard it but i think it would work well also.
