single pickup in a humbucker place

HI

i have a hss pick guard on my strat. can i install a single pickup in the hum bucker place ? beside the gaps that i i will have, will i need to make new holes in th e pick guard or use the same i got ? there are two mounting screws on the upper side of the pick guard and one on the bottom side (beneath the hum bucker in the middle), .

The single coil will mount in the humbucker mounting hole in the middle of the route on the bass side (top) and the other end will be in the corner of the treble side (bottom).
