Single Sized Humbucker Recommendations

I have a strat (alder w/ maple fretboard) that I want to put a single sized humbucker in. Actually I already have a Lil' Screamin' Demon in there, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. The Bass seems a bit weak, and the highs are a bit too high. I would also like a bit more grit.

What would sound closest to, say, the full-sized Custom 5? (recommendations other than SD are fine too).

If you want more bass, the Hot Rails is the way to go. I especially like it in the neck for shred type leads. I can't compare it to a Custom 5, but if you want grit, the HR should do it for you.

I don't like the Hot Rails, but I'm more inclined toward vintage style of pickups. I'm not familiar with the Lil Screamin Demon, so I don't know if my recommendation would have "more grit". I think the Cool Rails is the shiznitz is the bridge of a Strat.
