So I have these humbuckers. They have a single hookup wire and the outer braid is grounded to the back of the volume pot.
In case anyone else has some fancy wiring in mind and they want to retain their pickups that happen to have only one or 2 hook up wires, here's what I did ( say may be early Superdistortions)
Soldered a wire to the jumper wires between the coils for coil splits ( if you want series / parallel switching just separate the wires and solder each end to the ends of 2 core wire and follow normal series parallel wiring paying attention to which inner wire is end of one coil and start of the other)
Out of phase? Now that was a tricky one. I set up my push pull as if I was doing out of phase on any old pickup. I then insulated the pickup lead with heat shrink exposing just the hook up wire and a bout 3mm of braid. I soldered the hook wire to one of the middle terminals in the push pull then tinned the other middle terminal and tinned the braid. I then soldered the braid to the terminal by just heating the braid and the tin on the terminal melded with the braid.
Works perfectly, no noise or weird behaviour.
