Singlesized humbucker...

Hi!
I have a H-S superstrat, body alder, neck maple with ebony fretboard, shortscale 24 3/4.
I need a singlecoil sized, 4-conductor humbucker that I can put in the neck. In humbucker mode I'd like to use it for fat, soaring leads with plenty of sustain, still a bit articulate withn decent string-separation. Cleans should be warm and full-sounding.
When splitted I would like it to have more of a twangy character, with sparkle and articulation, a'la strat. Not too much distorsion here...

I know it's kind of opposite tone here, but are there any pup that comes even close to what I describe here?
I don't care about brand...

Thanks!

i think a jb jr bridge model might work well for you. big fat soaring lead tone and a warm full clean tone. split it will sound much thinner and brighter

Re: Singlesized humbucker...

Hot rails neck. And don't split them, put them in parallel.

The cool rails aren't remotely fat.

Thanks! Now I have a few to look into more in depth.
The best strat-twang-sparkle tone I have now is in an Ibanez RG. I have a Bareknuckle Trilogy single coil in the middle, and a Paf Pro in the neck. Actually, the Trilogy itself don't sound very "twangy", but when switch is in position 4, that is, splitted Paf Pro together with the Trilogy I get pure sparkle heaven...
Don't know why, maybe they act parallell or something?

Re: Singlesized humbucker...

yes they are in parallel in that position. if thats the type of tone you like i might suggest splitting both pups

Re: Singlesized humbucker...

I have a 3-way switch and then a normal volume pot for each of the pickup.
I will use push-pull on both volumes and then go between with the 3-way.
So, 4th is parallell in the ibby? I'll try that then...

Re: Singlesized humbucker...

position 4 is one coil of the paf pro and the trilogy in parallel. if you split both pups and have both selected you will have one coil of each pup in parallel which will give you some of the flavor you like about pos 4 on the ibanez

Re: Singlesized humbucker...

OK, sounds great. I can add I have a Full Shred in the bridge right now, the singlecoil is a stock pickup...
