Six holes instead of four?

Now I'm seeing some Fender Strat bodies with six holes instead of four for the neck attachment. What are these two extra holes doing there?

Maybe they're guide holes or something for when they pull the guitar through a machine? But why do some have them and most don't?

Those are screw holes. Notice they don't go completely through the heel. That would have been where the body was supported while being finished.
