Six saddle squier bridge replacement

The bridge is this (as far as I know) IMG_1705.jpg sorry for the terrible photo screenshot, but as you can see it looks as if it has five screws holding it in place (one in each corner and one in the bottom middle). Squier bridges are okay but I'm looking to really mod the second had squier I'm getting to within an inch of its life, so I'd like a new bridge. Are there any bridges that will drop in directly into the place of that one?

Re: Six saddle squier bridge replacement

Look up "hard tail Strat bridge". That'll probably get you what you want. They are rather common.

Re: Six saddle squier bridge replacement

Will it directly fit the squier? The screws are in different places but I don't really mind so long as it will fit the body and will go over the string through body correctly

Re: Six saddle squier bridge replacement

^ Thats the task you'll have to do....sorting through the many options to see the right mounting screw pattern.
The other part is the position of the through body holes in relation to the mounting screws....as that has to be the same.

How about just saddles......which look to be stock Fender Bent steel type and much easier to narrow down.

Re: Six saddle squier bridge replacement

Carvin and Guitar Fetish have same-same replacements
I kinda like the look of the hipshot bridges

Again you'll have check algnment

Re: Six saddle squier bridge replacement

Why do you want to replace the bridge? You can add modern saddles if you don’t care for the vintage. Stainless saddles will brighten up the guitar some (if that is a problem).

Re: Six saddle squier bridge replacement

I assumed replacing the bridge would improve sound quality and intonation etc but if I can achieve that by replacing saddles?

You should have no trouble out of the stock bridge. By all means mod away if you just want to change the guitar, but I doubt you will hear a big difference

Re: Six saddle squier bridge replacement

Hopefully its just cheap....not 'a cheap fake'.

Doublecheck the spacing of the strings on your guitar against that one.....and give it a go.

Remember....not all changes to hardware are automatically upgrades tonally.

Re: Six saddle squier bridge replacement

Well, measure yours. It matters not what all squires are.

And if you say 'I haven't got the guitar yet', then I'd say why on earth are you looking to replace something you don't even know the first thing about tonally.
