Skinnerburst wiring

Hi there, planning to buy skinnerburst humbuckers and my Gibson has tapcoil. Can I wire them so that I can keep using coil split? And if not what other similar sounding pick could I use in order to keep that function?

They are Custom Shop pickups, so all you need to do is request 4-conductor as an option.

Hi Chistopher, I am buying them from thoman which is a shop in Europe and therefore I don't know if they come with 4 conductor. I'll try an ask the shop. Thanks for your help

Re: Skinnerburst wiring

Skinners are a fixed run of 800 and they're all single conductor. I have a set where the Custom Shop did change the bridge magnet and remove the cover at the previous owners request, but did not change the wires (they won't sell it to you new like that, but I wonder if they would change the wires after the fact maybe?). Just like was posted in the Amos thread, it sounds like the Custom Shop also can make you a 4-conductor PAF that sounds like one but won't use the Skinner winding recipe (I'm guessing they inked some terms with Bonnamassa about that.)

Yeah, the Custom Shop is magic. For example, the IM1 is wound to replicate a degaussed Custom Custom that SD couldn't sell due to SD giving the rights to it to Fender for their Frankie replica. The IM1 is A5 and manages to sound exactly the same as a degaussed A2.

I think it's the same reason the PG+ is A5 while a normal PG is A2. My semi-educated guess is a Trembucker having more wire on the bobbins might darken it up slightly, and placed in a Strat body might not have the right balance and an A5 plus some wind differences got them to sound the same.
