Slash / Boston Sound

Re: Slash / Boston Sound

FWIW, the A2P and the SD play very well together. Both are warm in the top with thick mids and round bottoms.

Re: Slash / Boston Sound

I have a Super Distortion in my Les Paul bridge and it KILLS.
I love it.
I’m not trying to sound like Slash or Tom per se, but it will get you there if that’s the goal.

That was a very popular pickup back in the day. Everyone used them on everything from hard rock (Ace Frehley) to jazz fusion (Al Dimeola).

Very versatile too if you do the dual sound wiring.

Re: Slash / Boston Sound

I'd suggest the A2P neck paired with the signature Slash bridge.

I like the Slash bridge pickup, and part of my spec for my CS bridge pickup included the notion of overwinding that model - the neck version overpowers its bridge counterpart too much for my liking, so the idea started out as giving the bridge bigger balls to compete. I couldn't get away from feeling that the neck position was too OTT for my tastes, and that the A2P is a much better neck fit :)

Re: Slash / Boston Sound

FWIW I would bias the guitar towards getting Slash sounds naturally (e.g. A2P variant pickups) and rely on amp and outboard processing to get the Boston sound.
