Guitars have been tested through EGNATER Renegade amp, same settings at the same place & time. There are lot of riffs and licks, from Zepp stuff, Guns, classic rock to metal riffs and solos, and some clean sound & blues stuff.
Hope you'll enjoy, feel free to comment and ask questions. Check my videos for other guitars.

Played and tested by:
Alan Dovic

Thnx to "Gitarski centar" - Marko & Stef for used gear & guitars

These are my observations after testing. Bear in mind that Slash was re-stringed (a week old strings), and R8 & R9 weren't, but nevertheless - differences were quite big.

Slash Signature: Very nice looking guitar- beautifull dark
tobacco burst makes it cool & misty. At first you feel this
great shaped neck, between 59'-60' profile. One of the most
playable neck ever tested. Pickups are very lively, open
sounding. Smooth and responsive playing. String definition is
better then others. Cleans up very well, you don't need 50'
wiring when volume is down, SD pickups are winners in this area.
Modern voiced guitar with a bit of vintage gritt.

1958 Reissue R8: Really cool vintage looking guitar, it doesn't
miss flamed maple at all. Big chunky, rounded neck. OK at lower
positions but kind of restricting above 12/15 fret. Pickups has
nice vintage bite and mojo - worked nice, but less responsive
than Slash sig. Compared to Slash - as if the blanked was over the whole sound, a bit tamed.
Neck pickup has a nice "plunk" sound. String definition was Ok, but not as good on higher two strings.
Cleans up OK, but had to lower the volume a bit too much.Vintage looks and sound.

1959 Reissue R9: really nice 3D flame.Less vintage looking then
1958, but flashier. Neck was less fatter & chunkier then 1958, but not as smooth as Slash.
Sound was somehow dissapointing compared to other two. Too much bass response and no bite.
String definition was also bad and guitar was less responsive then the others.
Bridge pickup sounded as it was neck pickup. Bass was all over the place and it didn't feel that good
to play it. It felt like guitar was wrapped in the blanked.
Cleans up OK, but had to lower the volume too much.
Nice looking, nice neck, but lacks qualities in sound compared to other two.

Guess what? I kept Slash signature equipped with Seymour Duncan pups, and my new "Mistress" is now my only gibby I need to own. :headbang:

not a fair comparison if two of them had dead strings

also, not to be used as blanket comparisons -- i've played two Gibson Customs made the same day to the same specs that had totally different tonal characteristics.

i dig the work tho.

Not perfect, but as close it can get. Those are guitar store (thnx to owner) stock guitars for sale, so it was nice opportunity to do this test while they were all in one place & time.
Nevermind the strings - other strings were not that old - differences were so huge as described in review below- about feel and responsibility of pups.

Glad you appreciated it :)

I'm not sure what taper the pots are in the R8 and R9, but the volume pots in the Slash sig (Appetite model) are 300k linear and the tone pots are 500k analog. The fact that the volume pots are linear makes a huge difference in response right there.
