Slash's Slash Album

Re: Slash's Slash Album

most likely he is goosing the amp with an OD too... i hear Slash has some new signature Marshalls in his hands... but in the studio they could be using anything and any amp at any given time

Re: Slash's Slash Album

new guitar world talks about the AFD100 and that it is a hotrodded JCM800. he doesnt really say what he is using for amps on the record, only that he used the Derrig LP for most of the tracks.
im anxious to hear the tune he did with M Shadows..

Re: Slash's Slash Album

If i had to guess, i would say either:

A) one of his vintage moderns
B) his original "slash" sig. marshall
C) the prototype of his new marshall AFD100 sig model

Re: Slash's Slash Album

AFD100 aren't ready yet. It should be Vintage Modern (Slash says that he use that amp recently) but the guitar tone is much like Slash's Snakepit It's Five O' Clock Somewhere's guitar tone. I'm not sure it's vintage modern.

Re: Slash's Slash Album

When we went there I think it was all that old Appetite Marshall. Maybe Evan knows more about it. But I thought they pretty much used that same Marshall. That's the one he was playing through to audition the pickups, and it was the only one sitting in the middle of the room being used. The rest of the stuff was in racks and off to the side. But at that point they were mostly done with the tracks I think...

Re: Slash's Slash Album

It's a Roland Micro Cube miked close, and he played the Slash Epiphone signiture model, because even he thinks it's the best Les Paul sound/feel/price wise.

Re: Slash's Slash Album

I don't think Slash gooses any of his amps to be honest... He dosen't use quite as much gain as he used to... maybe he used an OD for the M Shadows track though.

Re: Slash's Slash Album

He used to use one main amp for albums. He had the one Marshall that he rented and used for Appetite for destruction. Don't know what he used. A lot of people say it was a modded Plexi and others say it was a modded JCM 800. Slash has been quoted to say each on different occasions so no one really knows I guess. For the Use Your Illusion albums he used his JCM 2555 Jubilees and his signature JCM 2555 SL then for all the Snakepit stuff he used his sig JCM 2555 SL. When he was with Velvet Revolver he started bouncing around with different amps, especially with Libertad. He mostly used the Vintage Modern though but for some tracks he used some Voxes and Fenders.

The album is a hard rock album so I'd imagine it's mostly Marshall. He prolly used the Vintage Modern a lot. He really likes those amps. He still has his Jubilees and stuff though so you never know. I think he used the Jubilees on the first VR album Contraband. It really sounds like it. Also I don't know about the AFD-100 though. I mean its not released to the public but it doesn't mean Slash doesn't prototype or two. Slash likes trying out new and cool gear so if he was able to I wouldn't doubt him using it for some stuff on his album.

Re: Slash's Slash Album

Slash definitaley used a 80's JCM800 on the last album "Slash" according to Guitar World April.

Right. I'll just add that he went through a bunch of JCM800 heads from his collection, until he found the best sounding one. He also doubled a lot of the tracks with everything from Matchless, Orange, to Vox, panning one track hard left, and the other hard right. The Derrig was his main guitar like always. Straight from the horses mouth.
