slaving amps together...

...friggin rules!!!

when i was in the studio this weekend recording my tracks, i had my mesa/marshall rig, with the slave out feeding the FX return of my other guitarist's single rectifier, and the tone was absolutely HUGE. the tone coming from my EL34 loaded dual rectifier combined with the 6L6 loaded output section driving a vintage-30 loaded 4x12 was very interesting to say the least, but it was probably the best i've had my guitar sounding in a long time.

the rest of the tracks were done with the single rectifier and a rivera knucklehead. i'll have to try and get some clips up as soon as the editing/mixing is finished.

Very, very cool. V30 cabs kick total ass, eh?

I still say 6L6's + OD pedal in a Recto = total Oh Em Eff Gee > EL34's. :p

Re: slaving amps together...

normally i find V-30's to be a little bright for my tastes, but combined with the tone coming from the marshall 1960 cab, it was just right. the tone coming from eac cabinet was very different just due to the speakers, and it was hard to get a good balance between the two (especially sonce the preamp controls on the dual recto affected the sound coming out of both cabinets), but once it was done, nothing beat it.

Now you know why Metallica kept slaving their Boogies into Marshalls.
