SLS-1 Lipstick Tubes for Strats

I've just never heard anyone talk about these pickups. Why doesn't everyone use these? They look cool enough.

I've never owned lipstick tube pickups, but Mr. Scopp has, these are his comments.

I have a full set in a Strat. The two words I'd use to describe them would be bright and jangly.

I have a set in a Strat. They're very bright and jangly. I think they're awesome for clean strumming, but they dirty-up nice and without getting "tubby."

I dig 'em.

From Evan's description, I'm guessing they'd be more like the SSL-1's or Surfers and not so much like the APS-1's or Texas Hots?

It looks like they only come in Chrome? Are they available in black? Black would be cool.

According to the tone chart, they are 4.3k but with Alnico 6. Interesting combo...

I believe stoney, (stonabus), uses them and loves them. Do a search for "lipstick" under his name and you should get some hits.

They are intrigueing just by their looks alone.
