I recently bought a Studio Custom, and I believe that the pair of 59's in it are somewhat tweaked. I found an interview with Jol Dantzig, Hamer's main man, where he said that the neck pickup has a little less bass to allow for good sound even with the tone control rolled right off, and I think he said that the bridge p/up had a bit more midrange. He was not specific as to whether these things were achieved with the coils or the magnets or both, unfortunately. From other material I read regarding Hamers, I got the impression that pretty much any Duncan model p/up that they use is somewhat tweaked to suit their guitars.

Notice I said a version of the CCCs. We've got one of those redwoods here at a local store, but I doubt they'll let me tear it down to find out any more.CCC said:
The Studio Customs use Ultimates, which use oxygen free copper IIRC. I met Jol last year at a Hamer guitar seminar. Super knowledgeable guy. He told me/us they call Seymour and tell him what they are building and he makes a recommendation on what to put in the guitar. Thanks, Luke. Does the oxygen free copper have any effect on the tone I wonder? And I know that a few Hamer models have Seth Lovers in them, so I also wondered.....could SLU be...Seth Lover Ultimate, perhaps?

The SLU pickups are the identical pickups as the Ultimates in the Artist Ultimates. The SLU stand for "Slightly Less Ultimate," as they simply have not been designated a matching serial number to the guitar. But they are the same in construction and tonal characteristic.
I have a pair of Ultimates I put in my Hamer Artist Korina which came stock with 59's. As much as I love the 59's, there was a noticeable improvement. Everything I love about the 59's was kicked up a notch. The Ultimates seem more responsive and let more of the player's character through.
The Studio and Studio Customs use 59's. The 30th Anniversary Studios used Antiquities and the Studio Redwoods used the SLU pickups. All are variations/recreations of the PAF.

The one that made it to the local shop here was on order for the longest time. I checked in every so often to see if it had arrived yet. When it finally did make it into the store, it lasted about 3.5 hours. Probably for the best, though. I don't know how I would have been able to explain that one to the wife.

Let me know how you like those pickups.
And, I wish I had one of those. In fact, two of the Hamers I have decided I will own at some time in my life are the Redwood Studio and the 30th Anniversary Studio. I was almost able to pick up a 30th a while back. But I just couldn't part with some of the stuff that would have been sacrificed to fund it. So I ended up with the mahogany Standard instead.
Either way, killer guitar. Enjoy it.

Time to post a first impression and some porn.
The guitar is just great,the way it's made and how it sounds is almost perfect for me.
I was thinking on changing the original Seth's I had in the Artist custom (that was part of this deal) into some more lively ones, by one way or another, the neck pickup was dull and muddy on this one -might have been the seths/mahogany top combination.
This was strange, because I have Seths that are great in my Newport (spruce top) and in my old Artist with maple top.
These pickups are just great.
It's hard to explain (English isn't my native language) I'll try some keywords to give an idea. Sparkling but not harsh - warm - very nice balance between neck and bridge and a very usuable mid position (on most other guitars I never use that on). I haven't played it an high volumes yet, but with my Valvetech 22 Vac and no pedals, I can nail some 70-80's sounds.
