Slutty guitar feels stiff....

Re: Slutty guitar feels stiff....

If where you are playing at is very cold like you describe then it's probably just your fingers and not the guitar. I don't play well when it's very cold and everything feels stiff meaning my fingers and strings. Try playing in a warm room or next to a space heater and see if that changes things.

Re: Slutty guitar feels stiff....

Raise the action or get a little backbow in the neck and tighten the springs so that the tremolo dips backward a little parallel to the body.

Re: Slutty guitar feels stiff....

Well... It was only when the strings got crappy it became uncomfortable, and I only realised this when another member asked me to check the condition of the strings, so I think its just that and I was panicking... Dont want to make an argument over it... Dont get me wrong , it is not an uncomfortable guitar, I think I just panicked a bit. :P

Re: Slutty guitar feels stiff....

Hmmm , you are worrying me. Do you think he would too lazy to do it ?? I ****ing hope not considering its what he advertises/offers it, not to mention that I paid for it... What do you reckon ?

Gee, the luthier does seem reputable. It wouldn't be fair of me to accuse him of negligence without seeing his work. But the guitar is in your hands, mate so it is you who should be judging. I recommend that you turn on a good light, take a magnifying glass and inspect your frets' crowns yourself. They should be half round and smooth, free of scratches/file marks. They should actually be shiny, since the fret job would have been done just days ago.

Edit: Don't panic. Like never ever, it won't do you any good.

Re: Slutty guitar feels stiff....

No, that looks reputable. So you payed for all that and then ended up with a guitar that was uncomfortable to play?

Well, I think the thing to remember is that sometimes a setup needs slight tweaking, I gave him 2 guitars, 1 is great, 1 is good but could be a bit more comfortable... He said he will take a look for me, ive left it with him. In all honesty, the last 2 nights have not been so cold, and Ive found it way easier to play. Maybe that was it. Cold hands, plus cold dry guitar neck and old grimey strings. :D Everything will be ok. At least its free for him to tweak it a bit for me.
