Small amp for practise (to use with POD)

I'm looking for a small practise amp to use here at Amsterdam (My 40 watt Peavey is at Edinburgh and right now I use the POD through the stereo, which forbids me to listen to music at the same time). My budget is 100 euros, and I have the choice between the Vox Pathfinder 10 watt, the Fender Frontman II 15, The Marshall MG15CD, the Ibanez TB25, or the Peavey Rage 158. I'll ONLY use it with the POD anyway, but I still want something worth the money just in case. Which do you think would be the best out of those? Thanks in advance

good question. when i bought it i dint know anything about playing electric guitar, tone etc. its not that i know alot now too so here's my take on it:

for me its loudness is just nice because i live in an apartment with 2 other students and i have to be considerate. hehe. there is a boost button to crank up the distortion and at the same time increase the volume alot compared to the clean mode.clean is decent. while totally clean, you can full blast the volume and its still not very loud. there is a huge volume difference between fully clean and fully distorted.

the cruch is ok altho you wouldnt be really interested in it because you'll be using the OD or distortion from ur pedals right? you can get better distortion from pedals than the amp crunch. of course you wouldnt wanna compare it to larger and more expensive SS amps, let alone tube amps. i use it clean with a distortion pedal too.

there's a tone knob. no EQ like the larger amps. simple twist from dark to bright. might be a little disadvatage. but hey, its a practice amp ok? not a marshall 100W head.

its a 10 watt combo, small , cute and portable. so as a student stashing it away to make place ,its cool. its build as a practice amp and thats what it exactly is. for low volume practice in your own room, its good.

Well the one I am considering is the MG15CD. I'd rune the POD through its CD output and therefore bypass the preamp and use the POD's instead. I think it seems like a worthy candidate. Thanks for the help!

A friend of mine has one in Edinburgh. It's an ok amp, but since I'll get the POD in it, it doesn't really matter... It's just that in case I can't use it, I'd much rather be left with a decent amp.

I use the pathfinder for exactly what you are talking about and absolutly love it- But be aware of two things-
1. If you ever use it live and give a seprate feed to the house they can end up with an entirely differnt sound, so know your engineer well-
2. Any model tweaks that you create monitiroing thoguth the pathfinder will be heavily colored by the pathfinder.

Take a look at the recent live modeling thread if you want more on this issue- I get around the pathfinder coloring issue by developing sounds first directly from modles into my home studion monitoring system as it has no color at all- If it works there, I know that the house feed will still be good even if my pathfinders giving me a little more umph-

PAthfinder is superb for this applicaiton!

Eeeeh.... wow... that was complicated haha! I don't play live and I don't record. All I have is a Peavey Envoy and a POD 2.0 and the guitar, but the amp at the moment is not here and I want something to play guitar with also in case I have to travel a bit these holidays.

Actually, I would recommend a small bass or keyboard combo for playing the POD. Basically, you just need a mini-PA to amplify the POD since it already has the amps.

But I'd like to keep it as a backup amp just in case too, it can't hurt.

i own the marshall mg15cdr it is the bomb awesome distortion and good clean sound too and its the worth the money!

And the winner is, weirdly enough, the Fender Frontman II! Wow what a surprise, but I really think it was the best out of them all. Thanks for all the help!

aw.... I was gonna suggest the peavey. I tried putting my V-amp 2 through my marshall's CD input and it was stinky - your best bet would be through the peavey's clean channel. Maybe the fender will work well too, though. I REALLY don't like Marshall MGs - although I may have been using it wrongly...

Well I do have a Peavey Envoy now. The Blazer is the same but smaller I guess... I'm happy with the envoy. Maybe you're right. I'll try it next time ( I didn't today ) thanks!
