Small mod to the Satchurator...

But I like it....
Just one extra small part...
I like assymetrical clipping on my more gainy pedals, the overtones agrees more with my taste, not as smooth, abit more rough and fun.
Here is a small clip with a backer, used my Navigator strat with three Van Zandt Blues singles.

And here is a gut shot!

You can see the grey diode next to the switch, they do not sound good on their own, but mixed up with nicer diodes it works good.

Re: Small mod to the Satchurator...

changing the clipping diodes whould really help take away the fizz. what diode did you put? i had a friend mod mine, he changed the diodes as well.

Re: Small mod to the Satchurator...

It is an 1N 5231 Motorola Zener Diode.
Well I was not after the "fizz"...I like fuzzy distos;) That is why I bought it.
I just wanted a slighty more "rude" tone to it...a small small change, but having three diodes meaning having slightly less distortion and alittle more volume.
Tried a few other LED's...but it wanted the the red only...lol and the resistors are small, and I have no SMD solder sucker here at home....so I left it with its stock red LEDS..
Clean pedal otherwise.

Re: Small mod to the Satchurator...

I'll ask my friend what kind of diode he put in my satch. maybe you and him did the same thing. I had more volume, a more useable tone knob and less gain. Fizz is still there, but it's less.

Re: Small mod to the Satchurator...

A great tone! Love the roundness of it, full, raunchy, yet great clarity!

Re: Small mod to the Satchurator...

Thanks Kev:)
Maybe it is time to shave down on the pedals again??
haha
Nah...more:D
I just need a homerecord amp now.......
My Carlsbro is still in pieces, and my 15 watter is not safe for home use, might fry a cat or my kids....myself included haha.
