smaller amp and other possible solutions

Re: smaller amp and other possible solutions

sounds like a mission amps 5e3 is the ticket. I just don't know if I will do a head or combo, but that all depends on the sale of the Z

I vote combo, the actual cabs are easier to work with and are in stock with most cab sellers plus if you want/need to run into a bigger cab the speaker is on a jack...if you do go Mission tell Bruce you'll like an extra speaker jack for a different impedence and he can likely do that too...

Baby in the house? A tube amp even with an attenuator isn't going to cut it.

I hate to say the M word, but even I go that route at night in an apartment.

The Valvetronix allows me to find a tone that I can dig, then it can be dialed down to a whisper, and headphone and recording outs make it a very useful tool. A tool is what it comes down to. Luckily, the blue grill Valvetronix has the touch sensitivity I haven't found in Line 6. I can be sitting by the computer, jamming with my 335 or tele late at night, sounding like I've got great tone at Madison Square Gardens with all the reverb to shave off the loud punch. It's no louder than my TV.

Re: smaller amp and other possible solutions

luckily I do have a very small solid state amp that can plug into headphones for those sleepy times that Lucy better have . It is nothing much, just a little smoky amp.

I try to only play with the big guys during the day and behind closed doors.

Now that the Z has sold and will soon be on it's way to a new home I am really free to make some moves.

WoW...that was fast man!

yeah it was pretty fast, I had it up for a little while and I was afraid I would have to sell it on ebay but a fellow duncan forum bro bought it. Now I just need to get it to him.

Re: smaller amp and other possible solutions

so I guess that his aurora line doesn't sound like your amps huh?
The Aurora amps are based more on a hot mix of the VOX AC50, Bassman/Marshall 50 watter amps area, plus they can have the optional extra gain stage, but all come with a master volume and boost circuit.
Lew is well rooted with a hot rodded, fat black face Fender sound with a lean into the VOX tuning but with no master volume.
So his amps are tuned more with that in mind rather then Aurora amps, which have the classic cathode follower driven tone stack, like the AC50, Bassman and Marshall amps.

I think Gearjonser is right. As a father of a 16 mo old and another on the way, a lot of nice eves are passed with headphones. I hate it, but it's what we all need to keep everyone happy and sleeping.

Congratulations! I love the name and you'll be a happy guy!!!
