Smokey Amps

Anyone have any experience with these or own one? I've heard a little bit about them and the youtube clip of one I found tonight has got me more interested. These smokey amps are made out of recycled cigarette packs with a little speaker attached to it. These little guys are small enough to fit in your pocket and can drive a 4X12 cab.

Re: Smokey Amps

they're nice, good for when you need an amp that'll fit in your pocket. I use mine.

Re: Smokey Amps

I have had one for several years. They have modified them over they years a bit. They are a decent little practice amp, and will drive a cab as well. The thing actually sound better into a cab than it does with the 2" plastic cone speaker in it. I have used it when I traveled.

Be aware it has NO clean to it at all. At least at any volume you can really hear if someone is talking. I acutally made a portable amp from some Radio Shack stuff like the Smokey and it had a bit more headroom. I do not remember where I put that one now though.

Re: Smokey Amps

I realize these will break up the more they are cranked but reguardless of that I'm definately considering getting one because they are so small and convenient. I'm stuck between the regular model and the high gain model though. It's killing me that I can't find any clips of the high gain model. I guess not being able to find a clip of the high gain model gives me an excuse to buy both. What a horrible thing..... :32: lol
