Snagged a 2016 Gibson LP Standard T Plus Top!

Wow, I'm glad I did. It plays and sounds great. I'm much more impressed with the Burstbucker Pros it came with than I thought I would be. Enough so that I may have to do some mag swapping in my regular Burstbuckers.

The fit and finish of the guitar is very good, except for the nut. It looks a little funky on the on the ends, but nothing that effects function, and is easily overlooked. I was sceptical about the asymmetrical neck profile, but ended up liking it. It's very subtle, but it does make the guitar play nicer. It has more meat to it than a regular '60s profile, but not quite as much as a '59 profile. It's a nice happy medium. The push/pull split function isn't really a split. I think it just switches from series to parallel, because the tone change isn't all that drastic, volume level stays about the same, and it still cancels hum. The blower switch is nice to have, and the phase switch is cool too.

Overall, I'm really happy with it. Plus, it's beautiful!

First of - FREAKING AWESOME GUITAR!!!!!!! I'm gonna waste an hour just fappin' at the pick.

Now for Gibson bashing: That's a $3k guitar. Slightly goofy nut edges? Seriously? What a bunch of losers....

I only go for 05's and earlier. Thats when the best wood ran out and they had to start swiss-cheesing all them.

Re: Snagged a 2016 Gibson LP Standard T Plus Top!

Thanks again, folks!

Had the time today to play good & loud today, so I decided to play both of my Les Pauls through my Marshall JVM (I also have a MIK Epiphone Les Paul Custom with Seymour Duncan Custom and Pearly Gates neck pickups). So anyway, I A/Bd the two guitars through the JVM, and yeah, that Duncan Custom in a Les Paul is definitely one of my go-to tones. It just works for me. I'm sure most of you know about the Custom, but for those that don't, the mids growl, the low end is tighter, and it's a little hotter, but a guy can still get passable classic tones. And it handles chugging under gain better than the Burstbucker. The Burstbuckers are still sounding great, but they just don't cover the ground I want them to cover. So I'm probably gonna end up putting a Custom in the bridge of the Gibson and probably a Jazz in the neck. Or maybe a Screamin' Demon in the bridge with an A8 or C8 since I already have a couple SDs and the magnets on the shelf. I'm still researching the differences between the Custom and a SD with the magnet swap.
