So, can I play an acoustic-electric geetar through my "regular" amp?

I'm absolutely clueless about this. Would I need a special acoustic amp or will my Stiletto's clean channel be fine? I have no desire to buy a new amp just to use for an acoustic electric so I'd like to know before I go out and buy a guitar.

i use a Godin Solidac with a Piezo Trem bridge thru the clean channel of my Classic 50 head.... it does not reproduce the Acoustic sounds as nice as a Keyboard amp, a PA system, or an Acoustic amp....

but for me i built a large rig and playing the Piezo's thru the C50's clean channel helped me out, cutting down on gear...

Acoustic-electric.. as in an ordinary acoustic with a pickup and preamp system...?
I have tried my acoustic into my Mesa F-50, and it certainly amplifies the guitar... But it was more satisfying just plugging it into a mixer to a PA. Keyboard amps would serve the purpose just as well also...
In general, the preamp of the acoustic interferes with the preamp of your amplifier, more often in a non-desirable way than not.

But I might be wrong about what type of guitar you talk about..?

this is not quite right

an acoustic guitar sounds best with a full range speaker system. Electric guitar speakers are tuned to electric guitar (more midrange) and does not reproduce the tone quite as well.

plug your acoustic/electric guitar into your amp into a full range cabinet (i.e. PA speaker) and it'll sound good

no, I'm saying that it's more of a function of the speaker system as opposed to the amplification system.

it may or may not sound fantastic through the stiletto. just make sure your gain isn't too high or you'll get A LOT of feedback

Electric geetar amp cabs are voiced for eelectric geetars.

Acoustic geetar amps are voiced more similarly to PAs and K/B amps.

However, playing it through the electric amp won't harm anything, unless you're ears are overly tonally sensitive.

lol Les! If your stilleto's cleans are nice in your opinion, your acoustic should sound nice as well. I remember when I had my Laney VC50 open back combo the cleans were god-like.. I plugged in my friends P.O.S. ovation and it sounded great. He even said thats the best the guitar has ever sounded, and he was going to kill me and take my amp LOL.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll go over yonder to Geetar Center and tries me outs some ayycoustic geetars. If'n I's likes me one, I kin git 'er 'n try 'er wit de amp. If'n she dont's soun guud, I kin take 'er on backs, I reckon. Either that or if she be a keeper maybes I kin find me's a cheep amp fer 'er.

Er maybes ah should fergit about da ho thin an git me a hollow body Ibanez Artcore er sumthin.

yeah, take it home and try it. I tried an acoustic through an electric amp at SamAsh in Fountain Valley, CA and the guy that worked there, literally, took the guitar out of my hands.

and for that, I'll never shop at sam ash again!!

I run my acoustic in to my AD50VT using the Blackface 2x12 model. It works fine. Then again, I use a passive soundhole pickup with my Martin. But I tell ya, it's sounds really good.
