So I got my EH Metal Muff...

I don't really care for it. It find it far too dark and dull w/o the top boost, but when I use it the tones become too shrill.

Any users have preferred presets or tips?

I didn't like it either. The rythm tone was ok, the lead voice was nasally and pretty darn meh... Kinda like playing a JB through a Tubescreamer. Yuck.

The top boost just added a dollop of top end to maybe cut, maybe destroy any ears within a 2 miles radius.

BIG disapointment...

oh man, you've got to give it a while. one thing that's a must is to use it with a tube screamer.

the metal muff can do a lot in conjuntion with your amp distortion. you just have to know how to tweak it. the eq is pretty sensetive and you have to drop the treble way down to get a fantastic lead tone with the top boost on.

try getting used to it with the gain at 12 o'clock, or drop the gain to 9 o'clock and put a tube screamer on it or amp with medium gain settings. it really smooths out with a ts and it makes amps sound awesome.

i really suggest hanging on to it for a couple of months, it will grow on you. at first it doesn't seem articulate, but try recording some stuff with it and you will begin to like it i think.

Sounds like recipe for an ice pick gallore. I love my spina TS. But though that Metall Muff can get ice picky if you are not carefull.

I found that it had far too much top end, and the other two controls didn't seem to work on the frequencies I needed to control. Serious amounts of gain that were tough to tame too. Quite a noisy pedal.

hmmm interesting. maybe there was something wrong with the pedal. mine sounds great - at least i think so. i'll post some clips

I'm getting a little better sound out of it, but really nothing I'm crazy about. It will probably be on the Trading Post or Ebay within a couple of days.
