So, I know you guys are all tired of my Tele woes right?

Well, that's just what I do. I like to try things and take them out and try new things. Last week, I installed a mint green pickguard and a 3-saddle ashtray bridge. It had a decent look and vibe. Well, the bridge is a definite keeper; but the pickguard has been removed. Having only one guitar, I just need more than two pickups. Plus, in my mix, where I play, the Tex-Mexes are just bit bit thin for my taste. I installed my Lil 59 in the bridge and wired it parallel. I also reinstalled a Tex-Mex Strat pickup in the middle and a DiMarzio Air Norton (in parallel) in the neck with a black guard. I have installed a 5-way switch. This will work for a while but I'm really looking for a permanent solution (really, I am...). After installing, removing and reinstalling pickups, I believe I would be most content with: an SSS config; but bigger, and fatter-sounding than your classic single coils.

Here's what I'm after; from an aesthetic perspective.

Try some DiMarzio SDS-1s.

Actually, I am liking the combo I have, which is actually an HSH combo. What I need, though, are better pickups. The Lil 59 is fine, but I'm needing a better Strat pickup for the midde position; something like a Texas Special I guess. The neck pickup is too much, even in parallel. It's an air Norton and it's big and fat. Paired with an Air Zone, it's killer; but not here. I'm thinkig about a DiMarzio Bluesbucker. It has more or a P90 vibe to it.

Have you tried Firebird PUs? I just put a Lollar in the neck of one of mine and it is fantastic. It matches great with the bridge pickup.
