Well, that's just what I do. I like to try things and take them out and try new things. Last week, I installed a mint green pickguard and a 3-saddle ashtray bridge. It had a decent look and vibe. Well, the bridge is a definite keeper; but the pickguard has been removed. Having only one guitar, I just need more than two pickups. Plus, in my mix, where I play, the Tex-Mexes are just bit bit thin for my taste. I installed my Lil 59 in the bridge and wired it parallel. I also reinstalled a Tex-Mex Strat pickup in the middle and a DiMarzio Air Norton (in parallel) in the neck with a black guard. I have installed a 5-way switch. This will work for a while but I'm really looking for a permanent solution (really, I am...). After installing, removing and reinstalling pickups, I believe I would be most content with: an SSS config; but bigger, and fatter-sounding than your classic single coils.
