I think I'm in love!

Re: So, I picked this baby up...

That looks interesting. Can you generate some clips and a linky in this thread?

Re: So, I picked this baby up...

Why you lovey?

Cause it sounds exactly like a Hiwatt! Can't really use it for a clean boost, though, even with the drive all the way down. However, it does produce this beautiful tone ranging from medium gain to fuzz-like. The other thing I really like is that the tube is a 12AX7 seated in a socket and not some esoteric tube soldered in place. Plus, I paid $100 for it and it's practically mint!

Awesome! I own a Tonebone Hot British with a 12AX7 also & i love the diversity with just a tweak of the knobs. Good for you bro, Rock on!

Peace,

Yeah, I have a Keeley BD2 that I got from Lazarus1140 and I really love that pedal, but this one... oh, my! Definitely the best od box I've heard in a long, long time! With a clean amp you get all these gorgeous, swirling, 3D tones as the notes die away -- just like the real deal.

Re: So, I picked this baby up...

Very cool. It sounds similar to my BK Butler Tube Driver, with a single 12AX7... nice thick musical overdrive with a 3d texture. Except I paid more than $100... nice score!

Great, thanks for the the info. I'll definitely have to check it out. I have a Fender Bassman 4X10 that just loves pedals & the Hiwatt could be an excellent addition.

Re: So, I picked this baby up...

Cool...have been trying to find one here for ages...they came 07 I think it was??
And no clips anywhere either....hmmm
Hope it will serve you well:)

If I had a way to generate clips I'd post some. Funny thing is, this pedal was used (barely.) It had been sitting on the shelf at the store for over a year. I kept eyeballing it, thinking, "Maybe..." My son kept telling me, "Dad, you gotta snag that pedal!" I asked about it. They said I could take it home and try it -- return it if I don't like it. I got it home, hooked it up, and after playing it for about 2 minutes, called them up and gave them my credit card info over the phone. :)

Sounds like you have a tone-hound in the making right there. Congrats on both the dialed in son and the new sweet aquisition.

Re: So, I picked this baby up...

Hehe that is just awesome man!!
Kids knows stuff:D

No doubt! My son is perpetually scoping out new gear. He'll find something new, more or less convince me to buy it, knowing that if I don't like it, he'll end up with it. You should see his pedal board! :lmao:

Yup! The kid is definitely dialed in! He's a really good kid, though, so I don't mind making the investment. Thanks, this is one of the best "acquires" I've had in a long time.

Re: So, I picked this baby up...

I've never heard one, but it definitely looks mean!

Great score!

You have no idea how lucky I got in finding this pedal. I'll tell you how much I love it. I like it even more than that Keeley BD2 you sold me. I also have a Dr. Z Route 66 that I flat out love. I almost prefer the overdrive of this Hiwatt pedal to the overdrive of the amp. Really, it's just about a toss-up between the two.

If you ever have a chance to demo one, you owe it to yourself to try it out!

Dude, I can't believe you paid only $100. I've been checking the out online and they're almost 3 times that. I'll give you $125 plus shipping.:naughty: Enjoy, great buy.

Re: So, I picked this baby up...

If Rid can't find one you know there aren't too many out there.

Looks like great score, especially at that price pzaxtl.

Congrats. It certainly was a good day.
