So I scored a SM58 today

I went to a flea market in the city, and I scored a Shure SM58 with the switch for $10.

The grille has three really noticeable dents, which I doubt will affect recording. But my concern is the grill. I took it off (by pulling it up since turning it did nothing) to see if it really did look like the SM57, but I couldn't put it back in. So my dad stuck it back in with some tools and my brother ripped it out again.

Long story short, my mic is currently not protected by a grille and I'll probably buy a new grille soon. So, I was wondering if anyone with a SM58 could post a picture of the mic with the grille removed (preferably set next to it) to see if I removed it wrong. I'll include some pictures tomorrow when my mom lets me use the camera.

Thanks in advance!

Re: So I scored a SM58 today

i don't mean to come off like a ****, but the grille on a 58 just screws on and off, shouldn't be rocket science or involve any tools whatsoever. if it just pops on and off, you might have gotten an SM58 knockoff.

Re: So I scored a SM58 today

It's really old and it had signs of rust, so I thought that might be one reason.

Here's what it looks like:

Now, a guy in Harmony Central had a similar incident and he said to twist the ring until it came off. However, mine does not (probably due to rust).

How should I be rotating this?:omg:

Edit:

I got it of by holding it tight with tools and then wrapping a tool around the ring+twisting it. It was hard and it was due to rust. Lol.
