Ask one of the sales guys in the guitar department when the EB Cobolt strings will be in....I get the deer in the headlights stare first and then he turns around and looks at the rest of the EB strings...LOL....Pretty sorry that some of the sales guys at these places just don't have a clue! ;o)

Re: So I Walk Into MY Local Guitar Center

So. If he works in the guitar department, it's not his job to know about every single pack of guitar strings they sell. If he worked in accessories, then it would be.

Re: So I Walk Into MY Local Guitar Center

No big deal. They aren't experts, nor should they be expected to be. In retail, you can learn a lot from your customers. Now he knows, right?

Re: So I Walk Into MY Local Guitar Center

Been in & out of all kinds of music stores. Most don't know as much as we do.

True, sadly.

On the other hand would one expect a guitar player to know SOMETHING about guitar tech..

Re: So I Walk Into MY Local Guitar Center

So he didn't know when the new strings will be in stock?

DA BASTARD!!!

Re: So I Walk Into MY Local Guitar Center

I've been able to work at Sam Ash or Guitar Center here locally, but they can't pay me enough for all the useless knowledge I have in my head... ;o)

The accessories is in the guitar department...These guys don't read guitar magazines or get Musicians Friend catalogs(The sister company)? Piss poor... ;o) Thats why these places don't pay anything I guess?

Re: So I Walk Into MY Local Guitar Center

You guys can flame me all you want, but I think this is funny! The sales guy also looked like a terroist! ;o)

Re: So I Walk Into MY Local Guitar Center

John, you can't get a job there because you're over qualified. :)

Re: So I Walk Into MY Local Guitar Center

I tried when I was unemployed just to bring in something and couldn't even get a call back.

Sam Ash Tampa was going to hire me...Know the management really well...Guitar Center might have happened, but not right away...I know the Asst.manager at the Clearwater store...He's an ex-Sam Ash manager! ;o) Just no money working there, but I'm sure I'd enjoy it...Looked into it but never made it happen!

Re: So I Walk Into MY Local Guitar Center

I get an inferiority complex when I walk into Guitar Center. I can't explain it.Maybe I should try and get a job there..confront my neurosis.

+1. Not like they get any kind of rigorous training. Look at all the hours we've spent talking and learning about this stuff. Most players don't get excited about this level of minutia (whereas we have no qualms about getting in a fist fight over what others call 'splitting hairs' :14: ).
