Re: So I Went To Get Some Strings, Stand And A Frickin' Strap....
Thanks guys.....the one on the left is the 30th anniversary model. It has the open leaf inlays, the rosewood inlay around the soundhole and the 30th Anniversary Logo on the headstock. That's really the only difference. The one on the right has the Fishman on board pre-amp, and the 30th has Taylors pre-amp replacing the Fishman....that's it.
I really already knew which one I would be keeping, but told myself I needed to play them side by side. I prefer the 30th Anniversary model (left in pic) because of the Anniversary appointments....that's why I really bought it. There is zero sound difference, and both play like a dream. I'm really wierd when it comes to looks and name brands. Both are killer guitars, and if I had never seen the 30th, I would have been permanently happy with the first one. I like the way the top has aged on the guitar on the right, and the back does have slightly nicer grain. The 30th will age as well, I'll just have to wait.
Any forum member who wants to buy the 314CE on the right can have it for exactly what I have in it $1150. That's a great deal on a brand new Taylor. I paid more for the 30th, although list is only $100 more than the standard 314CE. It has the super nice Taylor hardshell case with all the warranty information unsigned.
It's going to cost me a little over $300 for the nicer inlays, soundhole relief and headstock, but it's worth it to me.
