Idk why those cryllic letters keep happening. Ever since the last forum “update” I get them. Just search for SB. (Small Block)

These speakers are greenback clones so I would not expect them to compare directly with a V30 though I suspect the combination would be quite good.

The WGS ET-65 is a cream back clone and it pairs excellent with the Vet30

No way to know for sure.

sounded good though may have been a mesa

I like the A type and the creambacks

in the second half where he went back and forth between the V30 and the others
the V30 started to be obvious and the others seemed to have more clarity

my ears may have gotten tired by then though

YouTube comparisons are tough anyway. It’s not really like being in the room. Plus there is compression added for sound leveling so it’s not exactly a true representation. But it gives you a general idea.

But, yes….ear fatigue.

Also….I noticed you mentioned wanting a 16 ohm speaker for a 2x12.
Keep in mind that 2 16 ohm speakers wired in parallel will give you 8ohms.
Which is what I prefer but that’s just me.

I want 16 ohm speakers so i cab match it with my external speakers

The two 8s in parallel are 4 ohm

I can rewire them , i know

And from what i heard the 8 ohm v30 sounds different from the 16 ohm version

Its exhausting

The Belairs I have owned had a pair of 16 ohm speakers wired in parallel for a 8 ohm load from the factory. You are using the set up that Carvin installed at the factory.
The vintage series Carvin amps are voiced on the dark side in particular on the crunch side so need a brighter speaker. If you go Celestians the H 30 in particular would be a good speaker to look hard at and they work well with a Vin 30. I have owned several of those amps over the years in 1/12 Nomads, 2/12 Bellairs and the heads.

they sound just fine

At the moment it is still super loud for home use

Before you flip the amp might want to check out Ricks mods for those. He is an old friend and has done some amazing things with those amps.

I agree with this. The Carvins of this era were all pretty dark, so brighter speakers tend to work better than even the stock ones.

ok so I put the V30 and the WGS veteran 30 in the Belair
they sound very nice

I put the new Linebacker that came in today in the 1x15 cab



Bruce, is it normal for it to crackle and pop and cut out when new?

I may have done something wrong
maybe I have the polarity backwards
