So, who has a Warmoth here?

I've built a dozen of them online and never bought one, but it's always in the back of my head. Watching this thread with interest

i have a few warmoth necks and maybe two bodies? also gotten a bunch of their pickguards over the years. everything has been top notch quality

The one warning, with great power comes great responsibility. The halls of Reverb and EBay are littered with Warmoth projects that missed the mark with asking prices 2-4x too high.

One of my main guitars has a warmoth neck (canary/ebony). I love it but it is such that if I wanted more relief I couldn’t get it, it won’t budge. Luckily it’s right where I want it. But it was a bit of a journey to figure out what was going on.

I do think a lot of people don't fully "plan out" their build. I think they get a spark of an idea and think it will be the best thing but when it comes time to build they decide against it and try to not only get their money back but also fund another purchase....could be wrong but that is what I assume is happening a lot of times.

The thing with Warmoth is that they are high quality but still not as recognized nor valued second-hand as Fender MIA. Also, Fender MIA, MIM, MIC, etc. typically have standards that are the same and identifiable by the serial number. Warmoth's second hand could be ANYTHING....from wood selection to neck shape to fretboard radius to size of frets to inlay material to body routing to body specs etc. Alot of time with Warmoth, your custom "ideal specs" are not ideal on the second hand market.

Just my $0.02.

I agree.

When you have every spec available to customize it’s easy to customize every spec. You end up with a Canary 1-3/4” clapton V neck that has pearloid binding, full scallops and moon glow stars paired to a body with three different types of pickups, gold flake and a Floyd.

The tough thing is that the only way to try the more exotic nexk specs is to just buy it. It almost feels like you should order a tester neck in plain maple so if you don’t like it you can sell it at a reasonable loss.
