i found some tubes that sound just like 6l6gc's but are 35 watts each & are almost as clean as kt88's. You can also readily find matched pairs/quads of them for real real cheap. You gotta do a mod to run them but it's a real simple one.

I'm pretty happy about it

i've never seen a matched pair of those for less than $100

and i'm not familiar with 7027's

7027's are pretty bad ass tubes but again...not cheep. Ampeg used them alot...Drew, care to shoot me that same PM...I'd like to know what the new tubes are too...or is scott the only special one here?!

There are many places on the net where you can buy quality NOS tubes. It's not a 'secret' that only you are blessed to have. God, how'd that site stay in business til you found them?

I didn't tell them the tubes, I just showed them a website that I'd seen around for a while. In all seriousness, if you want to post something, then not tell anyone, just don' post. How many guys here will go out and buy these tubes? Probably less than 2. The idea of having a high voltage wire hanging out there is a bit scary as I've seen folks do a bunch of stupid stuff. In all seriousness, don't post goofy messages about tubes then ask no one to tell. Gimme a break. My brother in law is correct, I'm just an a-hole.

That's old news...most people pass on them because they don't want the mods necessary to run them and grabbing a HT lead when you're looking for the standby switch can mess you up pretty good...If you try it, have a tech install it right---like bulletproof.
