SOAD Mesmerize appreciation thread

Amazing songwriting, amazing vocals, amazing tone, amazing groove.
There is no weak track to this cd at all IMO, the lyrics are chockful of emotion and meaning. (although alot less subtle than their earlier albums) I was most impressed to hear Daron Malakain's increased involvement in the songwriting and production, eccentric little man that has always intruiged me. Pipe in with your feedback everyone, I know they're a really love/hate band but this cd has too many levels to ignore for fans of any style of music.

I always dig the music and think to myself "who is this band?"...until the vocals kick in, then I can't listen anymore. Maybe I'm not hearing it right, but his voice is highly annoying to my ears. If you give it a thumbs up, I should check it out....

Re: SOAD Mesmerize appreciation thread

I've heard the entire thing. I don't like it much. Some of the songwriting, imo, seems forced. I can't stand any of the vocals either.

Re: SOAD Mesmerize appreciation thread

Well, IMO the cd is not good at all, actually it's one of the worst cd's I ever owned. I won it in a competitien, I sold it later the same day, I couldn't stand it.

Re: SOAD Mesmerize appreciation thread

I could never get into their sound... they have a very gimmicky feeling about their stuff. Gimmicky to the point that I have a very difficult time taking them seriously as musicians.

Re: SOAD Mesmerize appreciation thread

IMO it's the best SOAD CD yet.

Rock On !

He knows just as much about his taste in music as you know about yours. That's all anyone needs really. Liking or disliking a band is not fact, it's purely subjective.

I always felt similarly about them. A few songs were ok, but overall I just never got into them.

And what does my age have to do with anything?? it doesn't matter if I'm 16 or 80.

Re: SOAD Mesmerize appreciation thread

I really liked their first album, but I'm finding they get old really quickly. Maybe it's over saturation through radio...I don't know.

Re: SOAD Mesmerize appreciation thread

my impression towards SOAD is that they don't really like America (politics/culture ect) which is kind of ironic because without our messed up democracy and free culture, they wouldn't be getting paid large sums of money to make music. Other than that i guess they are allright.

There is nothing more American than being critical of America.

Re: SOAD Mesmerize appreciation thread

I think their politicalliness is so cliche like... It's the stuff that little kids want to hear so they think they are rebels 'n' stuff... just my .02

Re: SOAD Mesmerize appreciation thread

Why is there so much tension in this thread? It's just a freakin' rock album, people!

Anyway, I have heard from two of my friends who are into the heavier stuff that it's an outstanding record. I don't usually like that genre, but I am curious enough to give it a try.

Re: SOAD Mesmerize appreciation thread

Good album, first i thought it was good but not as good as toxicity, but now its grown on me i have to say i like them about the same.
