SOB ;o( Quickie Twangbanger Review

Well..This pickup has alot more mids than the Surfer and still has alot of highend presence about it...Maybe this pickup has more lows? Not sure,but it seems like it? I may end up liking this pickup more than the bridge Surfer and I'm very partial to the A2 magnets normally...Sure hope the 4th position tones are going to be cool?

I need to flip flop my white and black wires on this pickup because it's out of phase electrically with the middle Surfer RWRP pickup...

The Twangbanger has North magnet poles,as does my neck pickup..The middle is South pole and I Guess I'm better off just changing my wiring at the Twangbanger? I'll call the Duncan guys now and see what they say? :smack:

Is it ok to change the white wire over to ground and the black over to the switch then? Lew and I recently had this discussion and Lew said he does this? I could swear someone at Duncan told me not to do this,but maybe it was regarding humbucker wiring and not single coils...Thanks for posting back to me so quick bro.. :dance:

Sure it is ok. Just switch the wires, but that thingy does not have any baseplate right? If it were to switching would require grounding the original hot on the the base plate.

And it is correct. With HB's (simple braid wires) you cannot do that, or if you do, you gotta live with the outside interferences getting mixed into your signal.

Sh$t....Yes there is a copper or brass baseplate on the bottom of this pickup like on a Tele bridge pickup...I need to move that ground over to the white wire side of the pickup then ya think Doc? Bummer! :smack:

just take the wire that goes to the ground lug of the PICKUP and move it to the other lug. I dunno if you're confident in doing that though, I am, done it losts of times. Good luck bro.

the surfers are South polarity in normal form....... so your midde surfer is actually North if it is reverse polarity isnt it? and i was told the twangbanger was south polarity by scott miller........hmmmm.....

Flank...My polarity problem in this case is one of electrical phasing and not magnetic or magnet polarity...One pickup is wound electrically opposite of the other...The fix will be to flip flop the black and white wires only on the TwangBanger and moving the baseplate ground over to the white side also..No big deal really...Live and learn I guess? :32:

Maan, you can slice up humbuckers, do tons of mods to pedals... I think you are much more technically proficient than I am. And I have done this bottom plate thingy quite a lot of times. It is very easy. Just do it!

Why not just switch the wires on the neck & middle pickups and then you don't have to worry about the baseplate...

I have a TwBg in my Deluxe strat for a couple of monthes now and I must say that it's a GREAT F*CKIN' PU !!!

It's punchy , agressive and nasty with overdrive and it put some crisp in your clean tone !!!

Thanks for the support buddy....Oh absolutely no problem with the rewiring and the soldering...I always make sure I first know what I'm doing and that's why I ask you guys first... This is new territory....
