Soft to Dirt Chameleon

Re: Soft to Dirt Chameleon

Nice clip. Screamer and fireball again? It seems you never fail to deliver excellent clips, what's the secret?

Re: Soft to Dirt Chameleon

I actually a Boss OD-3 for the clean part. It's an excellent "soft" OD. The Fireball is good for higher gain or humbucker guitars.

Secret? No secret really, I just try to play what turns me on. Sometimes I manage, sometimes I don't.:)

thanks!

Re: Soft to Dirt Chameleon

I always look forward to your clips. Nice tone. In the beginning, it almost sounds like you hit the note initially with a mild wah tipped forward, then lean it back as the note sounds. But its really too subtle to be that. Just an interesting effect.

thanks Artietoo.

The effect you hear is a very, very mild touch of Chorus. On a scale from 0-100, it was set at 5.

In my books, effects are like ingredients in Italian cooking: use a few of them and sparingly!

But you did used the Screamer, didn't you? Man, I have a ENGL Thunder and it is hard for me to get that tone. Ah fingers, how important are they...

Great man!!!

Try boosting it with a good overdrive or use a compressor sparingly, it might help you fatten the tone. The native Engl tone can be slightly "metallic" or "trebly" (I think).

Re: Soft to Dirt Chameleon

Right, I never thouht of that! To make a home recording with the Thunder I have to set the master to 1 when I set the gain way up. That means a great loose of quality in the sound. Setting the gain between 0 and 1 lets me to set the master way up increasing the quality of tone. But I will never fat the sound with the gain on 1. Yes a booster or a compressor will help...

Re: Soft to Dirt Chameleon

I play and record with the master a 1-2. I use mainly pre-amp gain and od pedal gain. "Fattness" is more of question of frequency response. Try increasing the mids by quite a bit, bass by a little bit, presence down to the ground and treble down by 30%. See what happens.

Re: Soft to Dirt Chameleon

Well, I'll trying to record some clips this weekend. I am surely triying this.

I'll let you know!!
