Soldano type dist in a pedal? Possible?

Reckless Abandon

?????
I have a Modded JCM 800. I like the sound of a soldano. Sometimes it would be nice to have more of that thick low mid soldano type distortion. IS there a pedal that is in that territory. I would turn down the gain on my amp if needed. I use a Boss SD-1 for a lead boost set to o gain max volume.
thanks

If it's the sound of your dreams, and you play it weekly for the next 5 years (or more), is any price difference really all that relevant?

I mean....they're pretty much the authority on getting THEIR own sound. C'mon, bro. Work 2 hours of overtime, and buy the d*mn pedal.

I don't get it. Unlike other threads, you've got the EXACT answer to your question.

Thanks. But Cheaper. Under 75 bucks. Just gassing. I want it if it is cheap.

To be honest man your money would serve you better if you just dealt with the GAS until you could get a pedal that would serve you well. The sub $75 price bracket is going to have problems producing tones from a $3000 amp.

Watch out before you get the supercharger a lot of ppl have had noise problems with it.

Well, I mostly agree with this (95%)
But, the couple of hours of overtime thing, the one I found for sale was $500, and for me thats A LOT of overtime.
$500 for a one channel overdrive is steep no matter what.
I would love to hear it, but the HK tube one was the best one I heard when looking for one, and it is 3 channel with a built in red box for $399

I've read good things about the rocktron zombie rectifier distortion pedal. Dunno if it's under 75 bucks. That'll be a tough one man, unless you go danelectro or behringer.

Re: Soldano type dist in a pedal? Possible?

Doesn't Soldano make a pedal called a GTO (or is it the same pedal)?

Yep, the GTO is the Supercharger, one and the same.

As mentioned by LooseCannon, there have been many reports of units with noise issues (I ran across that as well by doing research a year or two ago on them). They're supposed to be really good pedals, but I think the cheapest I've seen 'em is $350 used and that was atleast a year ago.

Sometimes the best thing to do is save for what you really want. When you start looking for "cheap alternatives" you very rarely ever make out content with it.

...but even if you do buy the supercharger there's the matter of getting the soldano sound out of an EL34 amp with a far less robust output transformer.

To be honest, though, the idea of a soldano front end running into an EL34 power section sounds like a good time to me. A nice Marshall/soldano hybrid.

Exactly, I just want a pedal to put in front of my single channel amp for a little variety. The GTo is not for me since I have no clean channel. I am 100%happy 90% of the time with my Modded 800. The 10% is out of boredom. So I am not spending much if any at all.
