Soldano vs. Bogner

Re: Soldano vs. Bogner

Whats the V30 analogy at Eminence? if that's what Soldano uses ??? I would love to hear sound clips comparing the sounds ... Dudes, you rock thanks a lot I am getting exited about this, I might finish this cab before the end of the year !!!

i think they are the eminence legend V128 but i cant confirm that.

i have no idea how similar those are to vintage 30s.

Re: Soldano vs. Bogner

So, I've listned to V128s here:
http://www.gearwire.com/eminence-speaker-test.html
Problem is, this sound sample is 100% clean, and at this point its hard for me to picture my TS9 pushed cranked AOR sound through these, I liked V128s, I did not hate them, however I liked how the clean open chords sounded through Man o War and single note lead lick through V1258 ....
I've listened to V30 here:
http://www.thdelectronics.com/soundclips/soundclips_list.htm
I loved them, granted the style of playing, level of gain was very close to what I do so it was an unfair advantage for V30s. Hm .... Can anyone point me to the hard driven V128s, V1258s, Man O Wars? Also if somebody could just say a bit about the differences in insulation between Bogner and Soldano. THanks dudes.

Re: Soldano vs. Bogner

Insulation is usually the same stuff in homes....Corning. Some of that on the inside of the cab keeps it from farting out on lows, because it kills sound waves that make the cabinet buckle or create wolf tones.

Also, there's a wood spacer that goes from the front to the back......I tape some paper towels over the back end of it, so it makes a dull connection with the back. I'm not sure how much it does, but it eliminates the chance of that spacer rattling inside.

Re: Soldano vs. Bogner

if you are adding insulation i recommend this stuff:

no gloves, mask or any health hazards. i recently bought a 5 lb bag to put in my isolation 12 cabinet and throwing this stuff in the cabinet made the speaker sound much better. i plan on also putting it in my custom bass cabinet whenever that comes.

i'm not sure if bogner or soldano use insulation in their cabinets.

Re: Soldano vs. Bogner

Sorry for intruding but I have to ask... has anyone ever compared the Bognor, Soldano or Splawn cabs to an Orange? I'm only asking 'coz I've only recently discovered Orange, I got an old 70's 4 x 12 with Greenbacks in and it sounds superb. It's so solid, very warm sounding... though I know most people on here seem to favour V30's over Greenbacks, and I know that Ornge now use the V30 in their new cabs.
